Folks in Tulia, Texas breathed a collective sigh of relief when the trophy for "most racist town in America" passed to Jena, Louisiana. The hardware is back in Texas. Paris, a community of 25,000 in Deep East Texas, now bears the distinction of being America's most racist municipality. Does the shoe fit? Of course not. It's silly to tar a single community as a singular throwback to Jim Crow America. As much as justice advocates love to toss around phrases like "modern day lynching", w
